Masha and The Bear

Simple but fun #1 games app for the most popular kids property on Youtube

The Client

Animaccord produce Masha & the Bear, a series that stars in the top ten most popular videos on Youtube, with one episode receiving 2.7 billion views.

The Brief

Create a low cost app hosting simple games that are both single player and multiplayer, and which feature the characters of the series.

The Approach

The app needed to leverage Animaccord’s artwork and appeal to a wide range of Masha fans around the world, and so different game genres were identified to satisfy different preferences. These were tested with kids in our PlayLab, and then geobeta-tested with localised fans. We then worked with Masha on featuring the app within regional app stores.

The Output

The Work

The Masha & the Bear app launched late 2017 and became December’s #1 paid entertainment app and the #2 paid children’s app. Although one of many Masha games in the store, it made Apple’s “New Apps We Love” and “Hot This Week” features in the U.S., U.K. and Canada.
