Zulleon are a startup team of educational professionals based in Ireland, looking to improve children’s reading abilities through letting them illustrate and create their own story book.
Design and produce a cartoon storyboard interface that prompts kids to add their own illustrations to the OOKS narrative, and print the final story out in a physical book that is delivered to their door.
Several versions of the story evolved from an open branching tree structure to a simple binary choice for younger children to understand. Dubit created a unique story creator tool in the Unity Engine to achieve an app rich in animation, audio, touchable objects and mini games. Working with the client and their illustrations, we tested all tools and user journeys fortnightly to find the fun, and create something that kids immediately understood. OOKS books are now available worldwide and their characters are now appearing on merchandise to further leverage the brand.
The first app where kids learn how to read through creating their very own storybook, featuring their own drawings and characters! The tech is truly amazing - we are very proud of having produced this in a short timescale, and working with the client’s book production partners. OOKS books are now available around the world, and the characters and stories appearing on a new range of merchandise!
